How to Tell If Your Colored Contacts Fit Properly
A badly fitting contact lens feels exactly how you would expect. It slides around when you blink. It feels scratchy in one corner. Your eye waters for no reason. Yet people wear poorly fitted lenses for weeks because they assume that’s just how contacts feel.
It’s not. A properly fitted colored contact should feel like nothing at all. Here’s how to check.
The Blink Test
Insert your lenses. Wait five minutes for them to settle. Now blink normally. The lens should stay in place. If it shifts noticeably with every blink, the base curve is wrong for your eye. Yilala lenses use an 8.6mm base curve, which fits most eyes. If the lens moves more than a millimeter or two, talk to your eye doctor about a different base curve.
The Comfort Check
After five minutes of wear, you should not feel the lens at all. Mild awareness is okay for the first minute. Actual discomfort — scratchiness, grittiness, a foreign-body sensation — after five minutes means something is wrong. Check if the lens is inside out. If it’s not, the fit may be incorrect or the material may not agree with your eyes. Remove the lens and try a different pair.
The Diameter Test
The Yilala INYX Series and all our lenses are 14.5mm. This is slightly larger than standard prescription lenses and creates a subtle eye enlargement effect. If the lens looks like it’s sitting entirely on your iris without extending onto the white of your eye, the diameter is too small for the desired effect.
