Pick a Color That Enhances, Not Replaces
Trendy colors change. Your wedding photos do not. Bright blue contacts that looked bold and beautiful at twenty-five might feel like a costume choice at forty-five. Choose a lens color within two shades of your natural eye color. Test the Lenses in Your Wedding Lighting
If your ceremony is outdoors at noon, test your lenses under noon sunlight. If your reception is indoors with warm lighting, test under warm lighting. If your photographer uses flash, test with flash. The lenses that look perfect in your bathroom mirror may look completely different under wedding tent lighting. Test ahead of time in the same lighting conditions as your actual event.
Practice Inserting Lenses Before the Big Day
Do not try colored contacts for the first time on your wedding morning. Your hands will be shaking from nerves. Your eyes may water from the stress. Practice inserting, wearing, and removing your lenses at least five times in the weeks before the wedding. By the morning of, it should be as automatic as brushing your teeth.
Pack a Backup Plan
Bring rewetting drops. Bring a backup pair of lenses still sealed in their blister pack. Bring your glasses. If something feels wrong mid-reception, you can remove the lenses and switch to glasses in two minutes. The backup plan is not admitting defeat. It is ensuring that nothing — including your contact lenses — ruins your wedding day.
